Homeowner Testimonial, Ed Sharp
March, 2007
Member and homeowner since 2001. There during summer.
“Linville Ridge is one exciting place. I never get tired of playing it. It just seems as though every time I play it there’s a different view. I see something different. It’s just a wonderful place to be as far as the challenge, the beauty and the views. I have never played a golf course that I don’t get tired of and I never get tired of playing Linville Ridge. It’s just amazing.”
“It’s a challenge. When you start out in the spring, the greens are one speed and by the time you get to the end of the summer, they’re lightening. That’s a challenge. The place is kept so pretty, I hate to leave. To me, some of the best golf is late in the season when the leaves are starting to turn and the weather’s starting to cool off. They’ve worked so hard on that golf course; everything’s immaculate and beautiful. The grass is great because they haven’t had a frost yet. Last year, I hated to leave and we wish we would have stayed another week or two because it was so beautiful.”
“Everybody has a hole that is probably the one that gives them the most trouble. I’m no different, I have one too. I think the 10th hole is probably the most unfair hole on the whole course. It does not give you any slack. I’ve always felt that way and I’ve told everybody I’m just going to go play the 10th hole over and over until I figure it out. The greens just slope away from you and it’s all down hill. It’s a challenge.”
“You just need to keep it in the middle of the fairway and have a good short game and putting is very important because of the way the greens are sloped. You have to learn to read the greens and you have to learn the speeds. Putting is very important. You can easily three and four putt. That’s Linville Ridge.”
“We went to all of the clubs in the area and played all of the courses and we always came back to Linville Ridge. It’s beyond a doubt the greatest thing up there.”
“Linville is spectacular in the summertime. It’s cool. You wear shorts and sometimes in the morning you may need a little sweater or jacket. By the middle of the day you’re peeling out of it and glad that you’ve got the shorts on.”
“I live on a golf course right on the water in Clearwater and in the summertime you go out to play and within 20 minutes you’re soaking wet. You don’t get that at Linville Ridge.”
“I like playing Linville Ridge in the spring when it first opens up and I really enjoy it at the end of the season. It’s great all summer, too. It’s beautiful.”
“I enjoy it, I never get tired of it, I love the people. Everybody up there is super nice. There’s a lot of camaraderie. We love going up there.”
